A short statement of what GreenCode is for. The vision is to decarbonise software at scale by making the energy optimisation of software a routine, automated and verifiable engineering outcome, treated with the same rigour as quality, security and performance, so organisations stop treating inefficient software as an unavoidable cost. The project will deliver a modular, AI-assisted, partner-deployable evidence and optimisation pipeline that ingests real codebases including legacy estates, establishes repeatable baselines, attributes energy and performance hotspots to actionable software artefacts, and improves systems through a closed loop of measure, optimise, validate and regression-test, producing governance- and certification-ready evidence. Improvements reach normal workflows as transparent, reviewable pull requests with a human in the loop, plus bespoke training outputs. Success is defined by measurable industrial outcomes such as at least a 15% energy reduction, progress towards an "A" software carbon efficiency rating, and improved maintainability without regressions across the partner use cases.
