The Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering IESE, in Kaiserslautern, is one of the institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Europe's large applied-research organisation.
For about 30 years it has researched how to engineer software and systems efficiently, building dependable and resilient digital systems with and for industry and the public sector. Its topics include digital twins, virtual validation and simulation, digital ecosystems, interoperability, safety and cyber security, and AI support for software and systems engineering. It works in areas such as health, agriculture, mobility, production and smart cities, and has a research line on sustainable software engineering and Green IT, covering resource-aware architectures, system software and development methods.
