Trier University of Applied Sciences is the second largest university of applied sciences in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, with around 7,000 students on three campuses: the main campus, a campus for design and art, and the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld.
Its teaching and research are practice-oriented and cover engineering, computer science, business, law, design and environmental studies. The Birkenfeld campus runs on renewable energy and hosts a long-standing green software engineering group with a laboratory that measures the energy and resource use of software; that work fed into the criteria for the Blue Angel eco-label for software products.
